ATLANTA - The city of Atlanta knows how to bring out quality talent for "American Idol."
On Thursday, about 9,200 showed up in droves as early as 5 a.m. at the Georgia Dome, hoping to become one of few contestants for the ninth season of the hit television series.
Many that auditioned believe they can be the next Fantasia Barrino or next Bo Brice. The show's host Ryan Seacrest and Idol judges were not in attendance, but are expected to be at the next audition in August.
Auditions for the popular Fox TV show will be held in five other cities during the upcoming weeks: Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Orlando and Denver. One audition has already been held in Massachusetts.
