SRS security contractor honored

WSI, the security contractor at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site, was honored recently as recipient of the Secretary’s Trophy at the DOE Security Protection Officer Training Competition in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

SPOTC is a four-day tactical, skills-oriented firearms competition held at the National Training Center’s Safeguards and Security Central Training Academy. The event was open to teams of protective force officers from the DOE community all over the nation.

The WSI-SRS SPOTC Team captured the DOE’s national championship to win the Secretary’s Trophy.

WSI has captured the Secretary’s Trophy five out of the last six years. The Company has won the Secretary's Trophy nine times (1984, 1985, 1986, 1991, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009).

The WSI-SRS SPOTC Team was selected from a pool of volunteers, and includes Team Leader Gideon Hornung, Joseph Bradrick, Jeffrey Heath, Roland Sanchez, Jr., Anthony Tisbert, and Mark Tegart. Mike Howard, a WSI Training Instructor, was the Team Coach, and Noel Hilton was the SPOTC Fitness Coach.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
