Augusta blanked on three hits

CHARLESTON, S.C. - David Phelps and Pat Venditte combined on a three-hit shutout as the Charleston RiverDogs beat the Augusta GreenJackets 2-0 tonight in a South Atlantic League game.

Phelps (6-1) allowed all three hits and struck out five in eight innings. Venditte pitched the ninth to earn his 20th save.

Augusta starter Kyle Nicholson (4-6) allowed one run, none earned, and four hits in seven innings. He struck out four.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
