Thief steals purse, hits victim with car

Police are looking today for a man who stole a woman’s purse then hit her with his car while trying to flee Thursday night.

The 45-year-old victim said she was in the checkout line at the Asian Choice Food Market on Shartom Drive when she noticed the man beside her “eyed” her cash while she was paying for produce, a Richmond County Sheriff’s report said.

As she left the store, the man ran toward her and snatched her purse then fled to a nearby car, the report said. She gave chase, only to be hit by the suspect’s vehicle as he sped away.

The victim suffered some minor bruising and cuts, the report said. She was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital to be checked.
