Junior Norlander posts 2 wins

DENVER — Augusta State All-American Henrik Norlander’s strong start helped Europe take a 71/2-41/2 lead over the United States after the first day of the Palmer Cup at Cherry Hills Country Club on Thursday.

Norlander, a junior from Sweden, won both of his matches. He teamed with Robin Wingardh for a 6 and 4 win over Erik Flores and Adam Mitchell in a foursome match. In the finale of the eight afternoon singles matches, he rallied to beat Oklahoma State’s Trent Leon 3 and 2.

The second and final day of competition today calls for alternate-shot matches, followed by eight singles matches.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
