New hours begin Tuesday for Georgia drivers services

Starting Tuesday, the Georgia Department of Driver Services will begin new hours of operation for its customer service centers, including those in the Augusta area.

According to a department release, the new hours for the Augusta and Evans locations will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, with each center being closed on Mondays.

Meanwhile, the department’s Thomson office will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and closed on Saturdays and Mondays. The change in hours for the centers, which offer licensing and testing services, is being made to offer more convenient hours in the morning, the release states.

“After a thorough review of average customer wait times and transactions completed each day at these locations, I believe alternate hours will enable DDS license examiners to serve a greater number of customers in a much more efficient manner,” DDS Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier stated.
