Thaddeus Mohler rewarded his Social Studies students for passing the CRCT by wearing a dress to school Monday.

Thaddeus Mohler, a fifth-grade Social Studies teacher at Craig Houghton Elementary School, told his students he would come to school wearing a dress if they met or exceeded standards on the Social Studies portion of the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test. They did, and on Monday he kept his promise.

All his students passed the CRCT, said Marilyn Bailey, a special education teacher at the school.

"This is newsworthy because this is a Title I school with almost 100 percent disadvantaged children," Ms. Bailey said in an e-mail.

Mr. Mohler wore a formal satin dress with a princess neckline and a beaded necklace.
