School board takes no action on 2010 budget

All options are on the table as the Richmond County Board of Education wrestles with what remains of a $24.5 million projected budget shortfall.

The board held its first budget hearing this morning, but declined to remove anything from a list of cost-savings measures, which include pay cuts, furloughs and layoffs.

The board will reconvene at 4 p.m. Tuesday to continue its talks. A final budget must be approved by the end of June and would go into effect July 1.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity
