Goodwill seeks donations to fill loss from fire at Aiken facility

AIKEN -- Goodwill officials say they hope by Wednesday to reopen an Aiken donation facility damaged by fire Friday night.

No one was injured, but more than 20,000 items of clothing and household items were lost after the fire broke out about 7 p.m. at the Whiskey Road Emporium, a press statement said.

Jim Stiff, Goodwill president and CEO who was on site today, said he hoped the community would increase its donations to fill the loss caused by the fire.

“Goodwill is confident that loyal donors across the CSRA will clean out their closets and donate items to Goodwill in order to help us rebuild and continue to advance our life-changing mission,” he said in a statement.

Tax deductible monetary donations can be mailed to: Goodwill Works Foundation at PO Box 212668; Augusta, GA 30917. (Phone (706) 564-4521)
