Butler student arrested for punching officer

A Butler High School student was arrested today for punching a Richmond County Board of Education police officer.

Lashay Danielle Mays, 17, of the 1800 block of Formosa Drive, is charged with felony obstruction of an officer and disruption of public school, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s report. Officer Adrienn Burns was attempting to break up a fight in the school’s hallway when Ms. Mays cursed at her and warned her to stay away, the report said. When Officer Burns tried to restrain the teen, Ms. Mays began punching her.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
