ASU shocks No. 2 USC Aiken in Peach Belt Tournament

AIKEN - Augusta State freshman pitcher Wilson Taylor held Peach Belt Conference regular season champion USC Aiken in check in a 7-4 win in the tournament quarterfinals.

The Jaguars (26-30), the eighth seed, advance to play North Georgia in the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. With one more win, ASU will advance to the championship at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Taylor limited the league's top hitting team to four runs and nine hits in seven innings. No. 2 USC Aiken (39-17), the tournament's top seed, grounded into two double plays and committed four errors.

ASU's Alex Sickman went 3-for-4 from the plate with 3 RBI. Also, Tim Rawlings hit a key two-run homer in the sixth inning for the Jaguars.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
