C-SPAN founder USC graduation speaker

COLUMBIA — The founder of C-SPAN, a leader of the Smithsonian and the former chair of the Democratic National Committee will address three commencement ceremonies at the University of South Carolina.

The university awards 4,336 degrees today and Saturday in Columbia.

C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb speaks at today's commencement for the Moore School of Business, the College of Mass Communication and Information Studies, and the Colleges of Nursing and Pharmacy.

Smithsonian Institution Secretary Gerald Clough speaks Saturday for the Honors College and the College of Arts and Sciences. Former DNC chair Don Fowler will speak at commencement Saturday afternoon for the Colleges of Education, Engineering, and Social Work.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
