USC Aiken 12th entering final round

In Muscle Shoals, Ala., fifth-ranked USC Aiken moved up one spot to 12th after the second round of the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional on Tuesday at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals Fighting Joe Course.


The top 5 teams advance to the Division II National Championship, scheduled for May 19-22 at Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Wash.

USC Aiken shot 12-over 300 and is 21-over 597 with one round to play, 11 strokes behind fifth-place Columbus State.

First-place Lynn shot 1-under 287 and is at 4-under 572, four strokes ahead of Barry and North Alabama.

Kevin Grady (75), the low man for USC Aiken, is tied for 30th at 147 along with Newberry’s Ben Lown (75), a North Augusta native.

Newberry, ranked 20th in Division II, shot 310 and is 16th at 603.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity
