Minister from India visiting church in Thomson tonight

THOMSON -- Sunny Raul, who runs an outreach in India called Light of Hope Association Mission, will speak at Antioch Christian Church at 7 p.m.

The Rev. Raul’s group helps rescue street children and orphans in the area of Orissa, India. Currently, the mission serves about 80 street children and has 15 full-time pastors tasked with starting new churches, according to the Rev. Stephanie Greene, the worship leader at Antioch Christian Church.

The Rev. Greene said the church connected with the Rev. Raul through Operation Christmas Child. The Rev. Raul’s 13-month-old son received a shoebox of items from Antioch.

“We had included in the box a letter with our address and picture,” the Rev. Greene said in an e-mail. “Sunny responded with a letter of thanks and to let us know that he would be visiting the United States soon.”

The Rev. Raul will discuss his ministry and the persecution of Christians in India. Antioch Christian Church is located on West Hill Street in Thomson in the old Green Leaf Florist building across from McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

For more information, please call the Rev. Greene at 706-597-0004.
