Deer Chase Elementary principal reassigned

A Richmond County school official confirmed this morning that the Deer Chase Elementary School principal has been removed from the school.

Director of Public Information Louis Svehla had little information on the situation, but said Rachel McRae has been reassigned elsewhere in the school system.

Ms. McRae was named as the school’s first principal when Deer Chase opened in 2006.

The situation is a personnel matter being investigated by Richmond County Superintendent Dana Bedden, Mr. Svehla said.

Retired Principal Georgette Magwood is serving as the interim principal at Deer Chase.
