Powerfest, strawberry festival, historic tour on for today

Powerfest begins at 11 a.m. at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds on Hale Street. Steve Harvey will serve as a host and performers include Big Boi, O.J. da Juiceman, Young L.A., Gorilla Zoe, Maino, Pleasure P, Rich Girl, Brutha and Ron Browz. - Our Lady of Peace Catholic School, 856 Old Edgefield Road in North Augusta, will hold its annual Strawberry Festival Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival will feature a strawberry-shortcake-eating contest, a bake sale and a strawberry bake-off. - Four private homes and some historic properties are featured on the annual Historic Beech Island Tour of Homes, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tour stops include the Hammond-Walker-Simkins home; the LeRoy Simkins River House; Rains home and Gary McElmurray's Oakwood Farms home; churches, the Beech Island Historical Society's History and Visitors Center; and Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site.
