Critics here and hurdles ahead for mayor's ballpark plan

Coming Sunday:

Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver called his shot earlier this month with an ambitious vision for a ballpark and entertainment complex in downtown Augusta.

Mr. Copenhaver, however, still faces a series of hardball challenges in the months ahead, and it's apparent that not all the voices in the grandstand are cheering him on.

On Thursday, for example, state Sen. Ed Tarver made public a letter to Gov. Sonny Perdue, asking he reconsider donation of the old state Golf and Gardens property as a ballpark location.

Savannah River Site resumes normal activity
