Storm stories: Across region survivors describe hardships

The April 10 storm touched thousands across the region.


In Sunday's Augusta Chronicle, and on, we'll tell you how some are coping.

Among them are Melissa Leaverette and her mother, Sarah Brown, of Petticoat Junction.

Their phone line was still out Wednesday and might not be reconnected for two weeks.

Downed pine trees covered their yard.

Their shed was destroyed and there are holes in their roof, which is covered with a bright blue tarp.

“It’s just overwhelming,” Sarah Brown said.
