Harrisburg community to get police substation

A Richmond County Sheriff’s Office substation will soon be opening in the Harrisburg community near Platt’s Funeral Home on Crawford Avenue.

The building, which was donated by the owners of the funeral home, will be a “mini” substation to house the two beat deputies and any special operations teams working in the neighborhood, said sheriff’s Lt. Scott Gay. Crews are still working on the building and Lt. Gay said could open in the next 30 days.
