Development Authority launches newsletter in Columbia County

An electronic newsletter informing the area business community of goings on at the Columbia County Development Authority should hit e-mail boxes this week.

“It’s something we want to produce quarterly and also produce some hard copies to take to different groups when needed,” said county Development Authority Executive Director Troy Post.

The newsletter is just one facet of planned publish materials meant to promote Columbia County.

“In May, we’re going to have a strategic planning session where we’ll sit down and highlight the key things we’ll work on at the Development Authority for the next year,” Mr. Post said. “Once we have a strategic plan, we’ll go forward and adopt a written marketing plan to see how we’ll achieve those objectives.”

A by-product of the marketing plan will be more specifically-targeted materials, Mr. Post said.

“In marketing, you develop different types of materials for different types of audiences,” he said. “In all likelihood, we’ll have multiple marketing pieces that are prepared depending on who we’re going after.”

Developing the marketing materials likely will take many months, Mr. Post said.

In the meantime, he developed a brochure targeted to area businesses.

“Specifically, it’s for those businesses already here that may be contemplating some type of expansion or a new project requiring a new facility,” he said.
