Red Cross helps storm victims

The American Red Cross of Augusta has raised more than $4,500 for storm victims, but area families still need help.

Nineteen families, more than 77 people, in Richmond, Burke and Columbia counties received assistance with temporary shelter, food and clothing from the Red Cross in the wake of Friday night’s tornadoes and storms. Donors helped raise $4,655, but the agency is still seeking monetary donations from the community.

Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
