2 sought on murder charges

Columbia County police are looking for two South Carolina residents who face murder charges after an Augusta man died when struck by a vehicle in Martinez on Thursday.

Arrest warrants for Michael Faron Brown and his wife, Victoria Brown, have been issued following the death of William Jacobs, 64, of Belair Road, said Columbia County Sheriff’s Senior Investigator Wynn Howard.

Mr. Jacobs and his wife were visiting friends at a home on Roswell Drive in Martinez last Thursday night.

The homeowners of the Roswell Drive residence were having their truck voluntarily repossessed, Investigator Howard said. At about 7 p.m., Mr. Jacobs was struck in front of the home by Mr. Brown’s wrecker.

“It wasn’t an accident,” Investigator Howard said.

Mr. Jacobs was taken to Doctors Hospital, where he died about 9:30, said Columbia County Deputy Coroner Harriett Garrison.

After striking Mr. Jacobs, Mr. Brown left the scene without the repossessed truck.

Investigator Howard said the incident is still under investigation.

In addition to murder charges, Mr. Brown is charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, and Ms. Brown is charged with battery. More charges could be brought forth against the couple, he said.
