Aiken arrests 3 on drug charges

AIKEN -- The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three individual on narcotics charges, according to a statement released this morning.


Authorities report:

Rashad Slater, 31, 300 block of Greenland Drive, North Augusta, has been charged with trafficing crack cocaine, and simple possession of marijuana.

Terrance Jones, 20, 500 block of Celeste Avenue, North Augusta, has been charged with possession of crack cocaine, conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and simple possession of marijuana.

Donelle Jackson, 20, 100 block of Bell Drive, Jackson, S.C., was charged with two counts of trafficking crack cocaine, resisting arrest and assault and battery with intent to kill.

While trying to take Mr. Jackson into custody he attempted to flee in a vehicle and struck an investigator on the scene, police said. No one was seriously injured in the incident.

Investigators confiscated a small amount of marijuana and approximately three grams of crack cocaine valued at $4,000, according to Capt. Troy Elwell.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
