14-year-old's death ruled natural

A 14-year-old North Augusta Middle School student who collapsed after a 200-yard jog Monday died of an irregular heartbeat, according to autopsy results released today.

James Cody Fox had an enlargement of the muscular tissue of the left ventricle, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said in revealing the results. This is typically a congenital defect that may develop gradually with exhibiting any symptoms, Mr. Carlton said.

The boy's death is being ruled a natural death.
