North Augusta pupil dies

A North Augusta Middle School pupil died after collapsing during P.E.

Witnesses said James C. Fox, 14, completed a 200-yard slow run when he collapsed near his teacher. The teacher began CPR until EMS arrived and took James to the Medical College of Georgia Children’s Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 10:56 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Newberry, S.C., according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
