School reports break-in, damage

Authorities are searching for a man who broke into an Augusta Catholic school early this morning.

Richmond County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Immaculate Conception School on the 1000 block of Laney Walker Boulevard after the alarm went off this morning, according to sheriff’s report.

The vice principal told police that a rear door was kicked in to gain entry and a computer had been moved from a desk to the floor. Police believe there was about $500 worth of damage.

Video footage showed a black man about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, breaking into the school, police said.
