Reward in Evans bank holdup

An Evans bank is offering a reward for help in catching an armed bandit.

A lone gunman robbed the SRP Federal Credit Union on North Belair Road this morning.

The bank will pay $2,000 to anyone providing authorities with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

Capt. Morris said the man approached a teller at the bank just before 11 a.m., brandished a handgun and demanded money.

He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away in a dark green, four-door sedan.

Authorities are searching for the man, described as black, 5-feet 10-inches tall and about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark denim pants, a gray sweatshirt, a pink bandana, green latex gloves, sunglasses and a Dallas Cowboys ball cap.

Anyone with information regarding this suspect should contact the sheriff’s office at (706) 541-2800.
