James Brown impersonator might be the ticket for the arena

Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority member Johnny Hensley expounded on his plan for a James Brown impersonator competition this afternoon, saying he’d like to see it held Feb. 3-5, 2011, and titled “3TG: Tribute to the Godfather.”

Mr. Hensley called a meeting of the Marketing, Entertainment and Public Relations committee, which he chairs, but no one showed up but him. So he shared his ideas with authority Chairman Richard Isdell and Kayla Ott, marketing director for civic center complex management company Global Spectrum.

Mr. Hensley said he envisions finalists performing in the James Brown Arena with Mr. Brown’s backup band, The Soul Generals, and his former emcee, Danny Ray.
