Clemson to face Michigan in NCAA tournament

SENECA, S.C. - Clemson is in the NCAA tournament for the second straight year, and the seventh-seeded Tigers will take on Michigan in the opening round.

The Tigers (23-8) will play Thursday in Kansas City, Mo.

In early February, Clemson had only lost two games and beat Duke 74-47. But the Tigers lost six of their last 10, including an 86-81 defeat in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament to last-place Georgia Tech.

Clemson has had several meetings and energetic practices since returning to campus Friday. Coach Oliver Purnell says the emphasis has been on improving the Tigers' defense.
