Jaguars to face Tusculum in Division II Tournament opener

Augusta State, the Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament champion, will play host to the Southeast Regional, which begins Saturday. The fifth-ranked Jaguars (26-4) will face Tusculum (20-9) in the NCAA Division II Tournament opener.

If Augusta State wins the opener, it will face the No. 4 seed Georgia College & State-No. 5 seed Barton winner in the regional semifinals.

On the other side of the regional, No. 2 seed USC Aiken (23-7) will face No. 7 seed Lenoir-Rhyne (18-10) in the opener. The winner of that contest will play the No. 3 seed Armstrong Atlantic State-No. 6 seed Catawba winner in the regional semifinals.

Times of the first-round games are expected to be released Monday.

The USC Aiken women (22-11), which lost the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship game to Lander, grabbed the No. 5 seed in the Southeast Region. The Lady Pacers are making their first Division II Tournament appearance since 2005, when they lost to Shaw in the first round.

USC Aiken will face Peach Belt regular season champion Francis Marion (25-4). The Lady Pacers split with the Patriot women during the regular season.
