Power out at 2 schools

Two Richmond county schools lost electrical power this morning after a trailer truck clipped a powerline.

Academy of Richmond County and Lamar Elementary lost service about 9:30 a.m. when the truck clipped a power pole, said Louis Svehla, spokesman for Richmond County Board of Education.

ARC began dismissing students at 11:30 a.m., because Georgia Power had to cut off power to the school to complete repairs. Lamar Elementary pupils will remain in class and will be fed a cold lunch.
