Former James Brown trustee David Cannon jailed in Aiken

David Cannon, a former James Brown trustee, is in jail in Aiken County on contempt of court charges after turning himself in at the sheriff’s office Wednesday afternoon.

Judge Jack Early with the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court ordered Mr. Cannon to repay more than $400,000 to the James Brown Estate by yesterday or spend six months in jail.

Mr. Cannon filed an appeal on Tuesday, which was denied.

The former trustee had resigned in 2007 from his role as one of the administrators of the late entertainer's estate amid allegations he misappropriated thousands of dollars from Mr. Brown's accounts.
