Despite morning fog, Augusta flights on schedule

A dense morning fog blanketed most of Georgia this morning, but it apparently wasn't stopping flights out of Augusta Regional Airport.

Diane Johnston, the airport marketing director, said neither Atlantic Southeast Airlines nor US Airways had any trouble with this morning’s weather.

“It looks like so far everything that was supposed to depart, departed,” Ms. Johnston said. “It looks like they got out before the fog rolled in.”

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for much of the state until 9 a.m., and fog in the Augusta area was expected to last into the afternoon.

A cool, moist area parked itself over the region Monday and expanded into this morning. Damp conditions Monday also contributed to the fog, according to the Associated Press.
