Perez wins Bob Hope Classic

LA QUINTA, Calif. — Pat Perez came from behind to win the Bob Hope Classic Sunday, earning his first career victory on the PGA Tour and a spot in the 2009 Masters Tournament.

Perez shot 3-under-par 69 in the final round, including an eagle on No. 18, to finish at 33-under 327. Fellow American John Merrick (67) finished in second, three shots back.

Overnight leader Steve Sticker was trying set PGA Tour socring record for a 90-hole event. But he shot 5-over 77 to finish six strokes off the lead.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
