Former Midland Valley coach arrested

Former Midland Valley High School baseball coach Bruce Zuehlke has been arrested for using solicited funds intended for advertisements at the high school baseball field to cover personal debts totaling more than $12,000, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Zuehlke, 44, of the 100 block of Windy Mill Drive in North Augusta, is charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses – more than $5000.

During an internal audit by the school board it was found that from September 2006 until September 2008, Zuehlke converted funds for Midland Valley High into his personal accounts, the sheriff's office said in its release. These accounts were used to cover his personal debts.

Zuehlke has been released on a $10,000 bond from the Aiken County Detention Center.
