Georgia, Michigan St. in Capital One Bowl

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State has announced it will play Georgia on New Year's Day in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

No. 19 Michigan State (9-3), under second-year coach Mark Dantonio, has posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1989-90.

Georgia (9-3) is ranked No. 16.

The Spartans are headed for their second consecutive bowl game. Michigan State lost to Boston College in last year's Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando.

This season's bid is a step up for the Spartans, who will make their first New Year's Day bowl appearance since Jan. 1, 2000. Michigan State beat Florida 37-34 in that game at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
