CHARLOTTE, N.C. Augusta Lynx ownership hasnt locked down a new investor or group of investors to save the team, but Charlotte Checkers owner Michael Kahn might be one of the potential investors inquiring about the team. He even had an optimistic tone about the Lynxs future when asked on Sunday evening.
I think you might see some things happen before Tuesday gets here, Kahn said. Im not going to say anything more than that.
Kahn confirmed that he has spoken daily with Lynx co-owner and general manager Dan Troutman.
We talked a few minutes this morning. I would love to keep them and help them out any way we can, he said.
If things work out, things will work out. Dans a good guy. His hearts in the right place and quite honestly his head is too.
Troutman wouldnt confirm Kahns status as a potential investor.
We have a very loyal supporter in Michael Kahn, Troutman said. I cant confirm or deny anything else.
Kahn, vice president and chief operating officer of Empire Distributors Inc, purchased the Checkers in June of 2006, according to the Charlotte Checkers Web site.
The Lynx were in Charlotte on Sunday evening, and beat the Checkers 2-1 in a shootout.
Troutman, along with Lynx co-owner Jan Hodges Burch, said at a news conference on Friday that the Lynx had a matter of days to find a new investor or the team may be forced to fold.
