Lincolnton man gets 25 years for concealing 1992 death

A Lincolnton man was sentenced to prison this morning, bringing an end to a 16-year-old Columbia County death investigation.

Superior Court Judge Jim Blanchard sentenced Douglas Wayne Toney, 35, to 25 years after he pleaded guilty to concealing the death of another, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Mr. Toney had been charged in 2007 with murder in the death of Faxton Lamar Powell Jr., who was found shot near Harlem on Sept. 27, 1992.
