Aiken police seek 2 after holdup, shooting at convenience store

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office said today it is searching for two young men who Thursday night robbed Broadwater Convenience Store, 1801 Green Pond Road, in Aiken.


According to a bulletin released by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, at 10 p.m., the two men, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun and the other with a revolver, ran into the store. They demanded and received an amount of money from the cash register.

The gunmen also grabbed several packs of cigarettes. As the teenagers were about to leave, one ordered the clerk to lie on the floor, at which point, the gunman fired the shotgun into the ceiling. No one was injured.

The Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team responded and tracked the individuals toward Chavous Road.

One suspect is descibed as a black male between 16 and 18 years old and about 5-feet. 5-inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. He had a blue bandana over face and was armed with revolver.

Police described the second suspect as a black male, also between 16 and 18. He was about 5-feet, 9-inches tall and appeared to weigh about 150 pounds. He wore a black ski mask and was armed with shotgun.
