Delosvientos sets track record at Monmouth Park

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Delosvientos set a track record while winning the $100,000 Point Given Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, beating Phil the Power by 3½ lengths.

The 5-year-old gelding took the lead shortly after the field of four left the gate and covered the 1½ miles over a fast main track in 2:31.12, breaking the record of 2:31.54 set by Malibu Moonshine in 2006.

Trained by Joseph Orseno and ridden by Eddie Castro, Delosvientos won his third stakes race of the season and paid $2.80 and $2.10.

Phil the Power returned $2.80, while Sam P was 1¾ lengths back in third and Critical Acclaim finished fourth, another 9 lengths back.
