Augusta sweeps West Virginia for title

CHARLESTSON, W.Va. - Scott Barnes pitched six effective innings and Nick Noonan drove in the eventual game-winning runs with a single in the fourth inning to help the Augusta GreenJackets win 4-3 on Thursday night, completing a sweep of the West Virginia Power for the South Atlantic League Championship.

It is the GreenJackets first title since 1999 and is the city's 10th since 1916.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
