Bandit robs convenience store at Belair, Columbia roads

Columbia County authorities are looking for a man they say robbed a Martinez convenience store early this morning.

The man entered the Circle K store at Belair and Columbia roads about 3:30 a.m., displayed a handgun and demanded money, said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris. The man left the store with a small amount of cash and two cartons of cigarettes.

Witnesses describe the man as a light-skinned black man dressed in blue pants, shirt, hat and shoes.

A witness said a white Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck with a camper shell was in the area at the time of the robbery and could have been used by the man to flee the scene, Capt. Morris said.

Anyone with information about the incident or the man’s identity or whereabouts should call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 541-2800.
