Lamback wins silver in his first Paralympic event

Augusta swimmer Lantz Lamback won his first silver medal in the Paralympics this morning in the S7 division of 100 freestyle in Beijing.

Lamback recorded a time of 1:02.45, finishing behind world-record holder David Roberts (1:00.35) of Great Britain.

The 22-year-old Lamback added to his collection of two bronze medals (one in the 100 free) he won in the 2004 Paralympics. Lamback will compete this week in four more individual events and as many as four relays.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
