Hystericalady repeats in Molly Pitcher Stakes

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Hystericalady won the Molly Pitcher Stakes at Monmouth Park for the second straight year, beating Rolling Sea by eight lengths on Sunday.

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and ridden by Robby Albarado, the 5-year-old mare covered the 1 1-16 miles over a fast main track in 1:43 1-5. Sent off as the heavy favorite, she returned $2.20, $2.10 and $2.10.

Rolling Sea led for most of the race before Hystericalady took command as the field of five neared the final turn. She then drew off to score her 11th win in 21 career starts and boost her career earnings to $2,290,556.

"I just tried to keep her out of trouble," Albarado said. "I was just a passenger today. I can't take credit for this one."

Rolling Sea paid $5.60 and $2.80, while Lexi Star was 1¼ lengths back in third and paid $2.20.

There was controversy in the co-feature, the $70,000 Miss Woodford Stakes, as Pesinoe was disqualified for interfering with second-place finisher Shining Image in the stretch.

Trained by John Terranova II and ridden by Daniel Centeno, Shining Image covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:09 4-5. The 3-year-old filly paid $8.80, $4.60 and $3.60, while Peisnoe – who led the entire race and finished a head in front of Shining Image – returned $3.80 and $3.40.

Spritely, sent off as the favorite in the field of eight, was 2¾ lengths back in third and returned $3.20.
