Ga. schools superintendent to appear on '5th grader'

ATLANTA - Comedian Jeff Foxworthy won't be the only Georgian on the season premiere of Fox's "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"

Georgia schools Superintendent Kathy Cox will appear on the special two-hour episode with supermodel Kathy Ireland. It is scheduled to air Sept. 5.

Education department spokesman Matt Cardoza said the show's producers asked Cox to apply. Cardoza says her appearance is a good way to promote Georgia's educational system to a national audience.

The episode was filmed earlier this month, but so far Cox has been silent about how she performed.

The popular game show pits adults against kids on questions about math, science, English and geography.
