Alfredsson wins Evian Masters

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France — Helen Alfredsson has won the Evian Masters for her first LPGA Tour title in five years after defeating rookie Na Yeon Choi at the third playoff hole.

The 43-year-old Alfredsson had a birdie on the par-5 18th Sunday, while the 20-year-old Choi only managed par. Alfredsson also won the Evian Masters in 1994 and '98.

Alfredsson birdied the last two holes in her final-round 67 to force a three-way playoff with Choi and Angela Park. The 19-year-old Park was eliminated at the first extra hole.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
