Afternoon storm causes outages

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Just over 8,000 South Carolina Electric and Gas customers in the Midlands and Lowcountry reamined without power after an afternoon storm.

The National Weather Service says a Monday thunderstorm knocked down trees and power lines from Aiken through Lexington counties across the middle of the state.

SCE&G said more than 25,000 customers lost power initially - most of those in Columbia and Lexington.


Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
