The National Weather Service is expanding a flash flood watch that now covers most of Georgia.
The watch is scheduled to be in effect through tonight. It covers several of the state’s largest cities, including Athens, Atlanta, Columbus, Dalton, Macon and Rome.
Rainfall ranging from 1 to 3 inches occurred across much of the state Sunday, and forecasters say 1 to 2 inches, with higher amounts in some areas, is possible today.
Officials also say that river flooding is a possibility through the middle of the week.
