Rain could dampen region tonight

Showers moving through the area this evening are expected to bring even cooler weather for the end of the week.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in West Columbia, S.C., are anticipating around four-tenths of an inch of rain beginning later this evening. Although the bulk of the rain is expected before the end of the night, Forecaster Jeff Linton said there’s still a chance for some lingering clouds and rain on Friday, causing a drop in the near-70 temperatures the area has been experiencing throughout the week.

“We think it will get up to 70 degrees today, but tomorrow with the clouds highs will be in the lower 60s,” Linton said Thursday.

The highs will gradually increase through the weekend as the chances for rain fall away.

Saturday’s high will also remain in the lower 60s, with lows around 40 degrees. Sunday highs will climb slightly to the upper 60s and lows in the upper 40s.
