Beech Island man arrested on drug charges in Richmond County

A Beech Island man was arrested Wednesday in Richmond County on drug related charges.

Darryl James Moultrie, 30, was charged with possession and intent to distribute cocaine, as well as possession of oxycodone, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s report.

Moultrie was stopped on Fifth Street for running a stop sign before admitting to law enforcement that his license had been suspended for DUI, the report said.

During an inventory of the vehicle after the car was towed, authorities found a purple Crown Royal bag in the trunk which contained approximately 18 grams of powder cocaine, according to the report. Also in the bag were nine oxycodone pills, the report said.

Moultrie stated the car belonged to his girlfriend and he did not know anything about the drugs.
